The Oil Heritage Region as well as the rest of northwestern Pennsylvania is a four-season climate and can be as unpredictable as Mother Nature chooses. Whatever the season or the weather there is always something for everyone here in the Oil Heritage Region – the valley that changed the world.
Spring is the start of the days becoming longer, temperatures warming, causing new plant growth and the new life in the woods and streams. It is a great time to get out those hiking boots or bikes and enjoy the new life coming forth in the plants and animals along our many trails. Listen to the birds singing about our annual Birding Festival.
Summer in the Oil Region brings the flowers to full bloom, the trees are full of green leaves and the temperatures soar well above the 70 mark. Visitors can enjoy the warm temperatures as they shop in our many fine stores and visit the great attractions and many festivals throughout the area.
Autumn brings the many bright shades of reds, oranges and yellows to our hillsides as visitors clamor to view nature’s splendor of our “fall foliage” aboard the train as it travels through Oil Creek Valley.
Winter is great for those liking the colder temperatures and the many activities you can enjoy in the snow. Skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and sledding are just a few of the fun things to do here. Come and enjoy the many Christmas activities during December throughout the communities, and don’t forget the beautiful ice sculptures during February.
