John Eaton seized on Being at the right place at the right time to create the first global company, the Oil Well Supply Co., to develop and distribute the machinery necessary for the production of oil.  He was in Titusville, PA not long after "Colonel" Edwin Drake developed the first successful commercial oil well.  Eaton had come as a hardware salesman and stayed to create the first enterprise making the tools and machinery that made possible the rapidly expanding exploration, production and refining of oil.
