Education is a high propriety at the Oil Region. With three universities and colleges, the Oil Region is able to offer our citizens many opportunities for higher education, as well as customized technical and industrial training.  The Oil Region is recognized for educational excellence – we believe education will be the engine that drives our economic development.  Our education is our fuel!

Venango Catholic High School

Located on West 1st Street in Oil City, this school has an enrollment of 102 students from ninth through twelfth grade and is part of the Erie Diocese.

Located on Main Street in Seneca, this school offers complete education from kindergarten through the twelfth grade, with an average class size of 11.

Clarion UniversityClarion University - Venango Campus

The Venango Campus of Clarion University, located in Oil City, was established in 1961 on 62 scenic acres and was the first branch campus in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The campus provides programs for full and part time students who wish to complete the first two years study toward a bachelor's degree in business, education, psychology and rehabilitative sciences, with the final two years being completed at the main campus in Clarion.
Clarion University-Venango Campus is responsive to the needs of the community and committed to developing innovative programs that meet the requirements of the local population. Special programs have been designed for young children, academically talented high school students who want to start earning college credits, returning adult learners and older individuals.
The Venango Campus also provides students the opportunity to earn their Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing and radiologic sciences and masters' degrees in nursing and special education/rehabilitative science.
In addition, the campus offers students the ability to earn an associate degree in one of nine areas:

University of Pittsburgh at Titusville University of Pittsburgh

University of Pittsburgh at Titusville (UPT) is a part of the University of Pittsburgh, an institution with a history of excellence in learning and research for more than 200 years.

UPT boasts faculty and staff of more than 120 persons. The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville (UPT) was established in 1963 in response to a long-recognized need for higher educational opportunities in the Oil Creek Region. Following a successful fundraising campaign, UPT opened its doors in the fall of 1963 with classes being held in McKinney Hall. Joe M. Ball, a University of Pittsburgh administrator, was named the first president and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1986.

Students attending UPT have access to more than 100 majors, including:

DuBois Business College is an institution of higher learning that opened in DuBois in 1885 and was then known as the DuBois College of Business. July 1996 marked the opening of a new campus in Oil City.

The College now has campuses in DuBois, Huntingdon and Oil City. The DuBois Business College has a commitment to develop programs that enable graduates to become successful in their field of study. In that effort, the faculty and staff work closely with businesses to tailor programs to accurately reflect current industry trends and the contemporary use of technology.
